Another case of poaching during the spawning season has been detected in the Khorezm region. The raid was conducted by eco-police officers together with representatives of the district internal affairs department.
The violation was recorded at the natural lake Echkiyor, located in the Nukus mahalla of the Tuprakkala district. During the inspection, it was found that three local residents were engaged in illegal fishing using prohibited gillnets during the seasonal moratorium.
A total of 92 fish were caught, and the damage caused to nature is estimated at 743 million 660 thousand soums. During the inspection, the violators' rubber boat, 18 nets with a total length of about 70 meters, and all the catch were seized. All collected materials have been sent to law enforcement agencies for action.
Experts remind that during the spawning season there is a strict ban on fishing: in the Amudarya and Syrdarya rivers — from March 11 to May 31, in the water bodies of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region — from April 26 to June 10, and in other water bodies — from April 16 to May 31. Violation of these requirements causes serious damage to the ecosystem and the reproduction of fish resources.
