On May 19, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed in the second reading a bill aimed at improving the procedure for resolving indisputable cases.
According to the document, the process for collecting indisputable debts related to rent, mandatory contributions of apartment owners, utilities, and communication services will change.
If the debt amount exceeds 1,000 times the base calculation value (currently 412 million soums, or about $36,000), the case will be handled by a court. Otherwise, notaries will have the authority to process these claims.
The bill is expected to reduce the burden on courts and speed up debt collection. It still requires approval from the Senate and the president to become law.
