Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis sharply criticized the emergency monitoring and prevention system during its 15th plenary session.
According to data presented by Kutbiddin Burkhanov, Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security, 82 emergencies occurred in the country in 2025, resulting in 221 deaths and 256 injuries of varying severity.
Senators revealed alarming statistics showing a rise in accidents. Compared to 2024, the number of fires increased by 12.7%, and fire-related deaths rose by 7%. The most critical situation was in gas safety: deaths from gas-air mixture explosions tripled to 37, while injuries surged by 68% to 179.
During the discussion, it was noted that Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1027 of 2017 has not been fully implemented for eight years. The country still lacks a unified secure interagency information system, and specialized databases have not been integrated into the “E-Government” platform.
Senators also highlighted the absence of a scientific base: while the US, China, South Korea, and Russia have dedicated research institutes for emergency forecasting, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations still lacks such an institution.
Following the session, the Senate decided to send a parliamentary request to the government, demanding explanations and a fundamental improvement of the population protection system.
