️ A criminal group engaged in illegal gold mining in the mountain ranges of the Khatirchi district of the Navoi region has been exposed, the Interior Ministry reports.

️ According to the ministry, 33-year-old O.B., a resident of the Oktepa mahalla, gathered five fellow villagers aged 19 to 34. They were engaged in artisanal mining in the Oltingoy mountains without any permits and in violation of safety regulations.

️ In addition to endangering their own lives, the group caused significant material damage to the interests of the state and society, the report says. The exact amount will be determined after the investigation is completed, the press service of the Navoi Regional Internal Affairs Department clarified.

️ During an operational operation, the group members were caught with evidence. Household items and various equipment used in illegal excavations were confiscated from them.

️ A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 196-2 of the Criminal Code (Violation of the rules for protection and use of subsoil). An investigation is underway.

️ The Interior Ministry asked citizens who have suffered from these individuals or have information about their other criminal activities to contact the territorial internal affairs bodies.
