A criminal court in Tashkent's Mirobod district has sentenced a former senior prevention inspector of the Yakkasaray district to four years in prison. The 33-year-old man, while serving in the Interior Ministry, demanded $400 monthly from a woman providing intimate services.

In exchange for the bribe, the inspector allegedly promised not to interfere with the woman's activities, avoid prosecuting her and other girls, and provide advance warnings about planned police raids.

The woman herself reported the extortion to the State Security Service. In November 2025, the inspector was caught with marked money near the police station building.

During the trial, the defendant claimed that the woman had asked him to 'create working conditions' and admitted to taking money once, calling it a 'mistake.' He also stated that he collected information about the girls solely for official purposes.

According to the woman, the inspector had previously turned a blind eye to her activities, occasionally used her services for free, and regularly received sums ranging from 200,000 soums to $400.

Initially charged under Article 210, Part 2, clause 'v' (bribery through extortion), the court found no evidence of extortion and reclassified the charge under Part 1 of the same article (bribery without aggravating circumstances).

The court sentenced the inspector to four years in a penal colony and banned him from working in the Interior Ministry system for two years.
