The State Security Service of Uzbekistan has thwarted an attempt to illegally export nearly 2 kg of gold bars from the country at Tashkent International Airport.
During an operational search, authorities inspected the luggage of a 46-year-old male passenger who was about to board a flight from Tashkent to Dubai. Hidden in the inner support part of his suitcase, they discovered gold bars weighing a total of 1 kg 923 grams.
The seized gold bars have been registered as material evidence. The investigation revealed the involvement of a 34-year-old citizen, previously convicted under Article 182 of the Criminal Code (Violation of Customs Legislation), in this illegal act.
Pre-trial investigative actions are currently underway. Law enforcement agencies are taking measures to establish all circumstances of the offense and bring the perpetrators to justice.
