A resident of Zarafshan, Uzbekistan, has been fined more than 20 million soums (over $2,000) for illegally constructing a swimming pool in his first-floor apartment and occupying part of the building's basement.
The State Inspectorate for Control in Construction and Housing and Communal Services discovered the violation during a technical inspection of multi-story buildings in the 12th residential area.
According to officials, unauthorized construction work can negatively affect the structural integrity of the building, weaken its technical condition, and pose a direct threat to the safety of residents.
The offender was fined 50 times the base calculation value (BRV) and ordered to restore the apartment to its original condition.
