Uzbekistan's business activity index (BAI) reached 1,065 points in April 2026, up 6.5% from March and 22% year-on-year, according to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
Growth was recorded across all main components of the index. The number of banking operations increased by 8.3%, the volume of raw material purchases on the exchange rose by 5.4%, and the number of active enterprises grew by 1.7%. The most significant increase was in trademark registrations, which surged by 33.9% in a month.
Positive dynamics were observed in all regions of the country. The highest growth rates of the business activity index were recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (46.2%), Namangan (43%), Jizzakh (41.1%), and Syrdarya region (38.1%).
In April, the number of interbank payments reached 7.64 million transactions, an increase of 588,800 transactions compared to the previous month. The most notable growth was in Tashkent city (9.8%), Tashkent region (9.1%), Syrdarya region (9%), and Karakalpakstan (8.1%).
However, a decline in the number of banking operations was recorded in Khorezm region (down 4.4%) and Andijan region (down 3.7%).
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to allocate 25 trillion soums to support young entrepreneurs in 2026.
