By a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, Ahmadbek Yusupov has been dismissed from the post of chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC). This was reported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
Yusupov had been leading the HAC since November 11, 2015. Born in 1958 in Tashkent, he holds a doctorate in economics and a professorship. In 1979, he graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy.
He began his career at the Tashkent Leather and Sports Goods Production Association. Subsequently, he worked in various positions within the Shaykhontohur District Youth Union Committee, the Council for the Study of Productive Forces, the Institute of Economics, and the system of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as a chief consultant in the Office of the President of Uzbekistan. He also held the positions of chief scientific secretary of the HAC (2005-2012), deputy state adviser to the president (2014), and state adviser to the president on science, education, healthcare and sports (2015).
Yusupov was awarded the Shukhrat medal. Earlier, it was reported that the activities of the HAC are planned to be transferred to the Academy of Sciences.
