Criminal charges against a teacher who beat a 9th-grade student at School No. 275 in Tashkent have been dropped. Authorities claim the student provoked the teacher, and the parents have been held administratively liable.

The incident occurred on May 19 during an IT lesson. Videos circulated online showed teacher Zokirjon Omonov (born 2002) striking student R.R. (born 2010). Initially, a criminal case was opened under Article 105 (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm).

On May 25, Interior Ministry spokesman Shokhrukh Giyasov announced the case was closed. On May 26, a video report in semi-official Telegram channels and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education declared the incident 'resolved justly'.

The teacher explained that a student was pouring water on a classmate, and when he tried to remove both from the room, R.R. shouted, 'Take your hand off,' punched him, grabbed his leg, kicked the door, and swore. 'I got heated, but it only happened after his reaction,' Omonov said.

School staff claimed these students had a history of misbehavior. One teacher tearfully recounted being severely insulted by the same student on May 7: 'In 20 years, no student has ever insulted me.'

At a school meeting, Tashkent police chief Ravshan Sultonkhodjaev announced the case was dropped, met with applause. 'Any hand raised against a teacher will not go unanswered. Parents are directly responsible for their child's upbringing,' he stated.

First Deputy Interior Minister Rustam Jurayev told teachers: 'You are under the protection of our esteemed president and the administration. Behind you stand the army, people in uniform, generals!'
