Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan's Bukhara region have uncovered an illegal cultivation operation of narcotic plants in the Jondor district.

During a search of a local resident's home and garden, authorities found more than 600 cannabis and opium poppy plants, with heights ranging from 50 to 70 centimeters.

According to forensic examination, the total weight of the seized plants exceeded 9 kilograms.

A criminal case has been initiated under the article on illegal cultivation of banned crops. The suspect faces up to five years in prison.

Earlier, two similar cases of illegal drug plant cultivation were uncovered in the Surkhandarya region, where over 300 opium poppy bushes and about 3 kilograms of dried raw material were seized.
