Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a meeting with cultural and artistic workers, emphasized the need for cinema that evokes pride and honor among the youth.

According to the head of state, as reported by his press secretary Sherzod Asadov, stage productions exist in the country but lack strong impact. Songs have voice but lack the sharp breath of the people. Cinema has action but does not show the pain, pride, and character of the nation. Some works have form but lack a great idea.

“Sometimes we seem to lack national spirit. <...> Therefore, we need art that awakens the national spirit, literature that inspires the people, cinema that evokes pride and honor in youth, music that moves hearts, and theater that encourages self-discovery,” the president said.

The head of state stressed that there is no stronger or more impressive means of expressing national identity and spirituality than art. He expressed confidence that there are many creative individuals capable of creating odes, songs, novels, plays, and films that awaken love for the Motherland and loyalty to the nation. Annual competitions will be held in this direction. Grand Prix winners will receive grants to further support their work.

Earlier, it was reported that the president was holding a meeting with cultural and artistic workers. The event is dedicated to priority tasks for further development of the sector. Prior to this, he presented state awards to workers in culture, art, and literature.
