According to the National Statistics Committee, as of early 2026, nearly 56% of Uzbekistan's residents are of working age.
The age structure of the population shows that the majority of the country's residents are of working age — 21.3 million people, or 55.8% of the total population, which reached 38.2 million at the beginning of 2026.
A significant share is also held by the young population: 12.3 million people, or 32.1%, are below working age.
Meanwhile, the number of citizens above working age is 4.6 million, equivalent to 12.1% of the population.
It is worth noting that the number of working-age citizens has slightly decreased compared to last year. As of April 1, 2025, with a permanent population of 37.7 million, 21.1 million, or 56%, were of working age.
