The body of a 24-year-old man who drowned in the Chodaksoy River in the Pop district of Namangan region has been found after an eight-day search, the regional Emergency Situations Department reported.
According to the department, the man, a native of Fergana region, entered a prohibited swimming area of the Chodaksoy River near a recreation area in the Shaykhon neighborhood on May 28 and was swept away by the current.
Following the incident, a search and rescue operation was launched under the leadership of Colonel Akmaljon Urinboyev, first deputy head of the regional Emergency Situations Department. Firefighters from the district department searched the water surface, while divers from the regional rescue team conducted underwater searches.
On June 1, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office announced that the Pop district prosecutor's office was conducting a pre-investigation check. On June 4, the man's body was found in the river and handed over to the relevant authorities.
The Emergency Situations Department warned citizens not to enter water bodies in prohibited and dangerous areas, emphasizing the importance of following safety rules to protect life and health.
