A powerful explosion occurred at a liquefied gas filling station for household gas cylinders in Qarshi district, Qashqadaryo region, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
The incident was reported at 13:50 on June 8 to the regional MES department. Five rescue units were dispatched, arriving at the scene at 14:02. The fire was contained by 14:05 and fully extinguished by 14:55.
Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion caused a fire that damaged 4 vehicles (2 Cobalts and 2 gas tankers) and 2 underground fuel storage tanks. Tragically, 6 people were killed, and 5 others were hospitalized with various injuries.
Following instructions from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a decree establishing a Government Commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov. The commission includes representatives from relevant ministries and agencies.
The Government Commission is tasked with providing necessary assistance to the victims, eliminating the consequences of the explosion, determining the causes of the accident, and taking measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The area where the fire occurred is now under full control, and cleanup operations are ongoing.
