President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a presentation on the introduction of digital and artificial intelligence technologies in the mining industry and geology. The presentation outlined plans to implement 44 projects between 2026 and 2030 in the geological sector and at six major enterprises: Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Navoiuran, Uzmetkombinat, Uzbekugol, and the Uzbekistan Technological Metals Combine.
The projects cover five key areas: automation of production processes, digitalization of corporate management, implementation of AI technologies, ensuring labor and industrial safety, and digital transformation of mining and geological operations.
Implementation of the projects is expected to increase operational efficiency by 7%, equipment reliability by 20%, and energy efficiency by 8%. Human-related errors and risks could be reduced by 15%. The need for subsequent patenting of these solutions was highlighted.
The mining and geology sectors generate vast amounts of data, including maps, exploration results, drilling data, laboratory analyses, and production indicators. It was noted that consolidating them into a single electronic database, enabling quick search and analysis through 3D models, would enhance the ability to discover new deposits. This could reduce costs by 10%, halve the time to open new mines, and quadruple the number of proposals presented to investors.
The presentation emphasized the goal of attracting over $30 billion in investment to the geology and mining sectors by 2030. To achieve this, it is first necessary to create a high-quality and reliable digital database that meets investor demands. Accordingly, the creation of a National Geological Database was proposed. A “Technological Transformation Center” will be established to digitize over 36,000 existing reports and primary data. This will double the speed of geological data formation, deposit modeling, and reserve calculation.
Officials were instructed to include measures to improve production and labor resource efficiency in the business plans of mining enterprises, and to approve separate programs for technological and AI projects.
