Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Mumin Khurramovich Ashurov, a man of great inner culture, sharp intellect, and rare human decency, has passed away at the age of 70. A scientist, entrepreneur, educator, loving husband, father, and grandfather, he lived a life filled with hard work, responsibility, creativity, and quiet, genuine dignity.
Ashurov was born on April 19, 1956, in Samarkand. After school, he studied at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), graduating in 1979 as an engineer-physicist. He then pursued postgraduate studies and scientific work at the Institute of General Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, earning a Candidate of Sciences degree in Physics and Mathematics in 1985.
Science was more than a profession for him. He published scientific articles, wrote a monograph, and taught physics at Samarkand State University and the Pedagogical Institute. Colleagues and students remember his calm exactingness and ability to explain complex concepts simply.
In the mid-1990s, as an independent Uzbekistan built a new economy, Ashurov ventured into business. From 1997 for nearly 15 years, he headed the Madad Insurance Agency, one of the country's leading insurance companies. Under his leadership, the agency grew and found international partners. He had a knack for seeing opportunities where others saw only risks, and he always operated within legal and ethical boundaries.
After 2012, he focused on education. He led the Norma Professional Development Center in Tashkent, where thousands of financiers, accountants, and HR specialists gained skills for the modern economy. Later, as Executive Director of the Association of Certified Financial Specialists of Uzbekistan (ACFP), he helped forge a partnership with ACCA, a global professional accounting body, creating the first joint examination scheme in the Eurasian space.
He once said: 'Our main goal is to improve and expand the educational infrastructure throughout Uzbekistan to effectively prepare specialists for international standards.' He worked until his final days, meeting partners, participating in forums, and giving interviews.
A special place in his life was held by the Tashkent Business Club named after his close friend Ilkhom Karimov. In that circle, he was simply Mumin – an intelligent, attentive, sensitive interlocutor with a broad outlook and a good sense of humor. He was a reliable friend who knew how to listen and offer support without grand promises.
Those who knew him closely recall his modesty. Despite his achievements in science, business, and education, he never showed off. He didn't emphasize his importance – it was evident in his actions. He didn't make grand speeches about honesty; he simply lived honestly.
Behind his professional biography stood his family – the most precious part of his life. He was a loving husband, father to a son and two daughters, and a happy grandfather. His grandchildren were his special joy.
In one man, several destinies merged: physicist and organizer, entrepreneur and educator, leader and friend. He spoke Russian, Uzbek, and Tajik fluently, read English, and understood science, business, and, most importantly, people. His passing is a loss for his family, friends, colleagues, students, and all who felt his human warmth.
Such people do not leave immediately. They remain in the voices of those they supported, in the works they helped build, in the students they guided, and in family memories where love is stronger than separation. The bright memory of Mumin Khurramovich Ashurov will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones, friends, colleagues, and all who were fortunate to be near him.
We express our deepest condolences to his wife, son, daughters, grandchildren, and all relatives and friends. We share your pain and grief. May his memory be bright, and may all the good he did continue to serve people for a long time.
