Officers from the State Security Service (SSS), together with the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office and customs authorities, conducted an operation in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region, thwarting an attempt to illegally trade precious metals.

A 34-year-old resident of Tashkent was detained while attempting to sell 10 kg and 35 grams of silver in the form of ingots to an undercover buyer for $20,800.

According to an expert assessment, the total value of the seized silver amounts to 235 million 229 thousand soums (approximately $19,000).

It was revealed that the detained individual is an employee of a jewelry manufacturing enterprise. The enterprise was found to be processing gold and silver items without the required license.

Additionally, authorities discovered 58 kg of silver and 2.2 kg of gold at the enterprise, with a combined value of 3 billion 483 million soums (around $280,000).

A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway.
