The State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan has uncovered corruption crimes committed by officers of the internal affairs bodies. In Samarkand city, a prevention inspector allegedly attempted to help a former police officer get reinstated through acquaintances.

For this service, he demanded $7,000 and was caught red-handed while receiving the money. A criminal case has been opened under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are underway.

In another case, a prevention inspector in Chust district, Namangan region, allegedly demanded $2,000 from a citizen, claiming he had ignored the latter's application. In February, he received $700, then demanded the remaining $1,300 plus an additional $2,000 for helping illegally transport livestock across the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.

The total amount demanded was $3,300. The inspector was detained while receiving this money. A criminal case has been opened under Articles 165 (Extortion) and 168 (Fraud).

These incidents highlight ongoing corruption issues within Uzbekistan's law enforcement agencies. The SSS continues its investigation.
