Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, announced that she has taken personal control of the fight against illicit drug trafficking following the president's signing of a new law aimed at countering drug trade.

According to her, the document provides for stricter penalties for drug offenses, takes into account modern methods of drug distribution, and pays special attention to the protection of minors.

“Drugs destroy lives, families, and children's health. This is a direct blow to the country's gene pool and its future,” Mirziyoyeva emphasized.

She noted that in the fight against the drug threat, one cannot remain indifferent, as much depends not only on law enforcement agencies but also on parents, schools, mahallas, and all citizens who care about what is happening around them.

“I have taken this issue under my personal control,” the head of the Presidential Administration stated.

Earlier, the President of Uzbekistan signed a law aimed at strengthening the fight against illicit drug trafficking and protecting society from this threat. The new norms provide for measures against modern methods of distributing prohibited substances and increased liability for related crimes.
