A man suspected of impersonating a prosecutor and defrauding several citizens of their money and property has been arrested, according to a statement from the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan.
During an operation by the Personal Security Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, it was established that citizen A.A. had been presenting himself as a prosecutor. According to the investigation, he told citizens B.M. and S.Sh. that he could help them buy cheap wheat products and make a large profit by processing them, thereby gaining their trust and fraudulently obtaining 1.7 billion soums.
Furthermore, A.A. was aware that the Tashkent mayor's decision regarding a 50-hectare land plot in Yakkasaray district for an LLC owned by victim M.T. had been overturned by the Supreme Court. He allegedly promised to restore the decision and received $95,000 from M.T.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, A.A. also introduced himself as a prosecutor to citizen I.N., whom he met on Facebook. He later promised to exchange her 2014 Cobalt car, worth $8,500, for a new Gentra, took possession of the car, sold it to another person, and spent the proceeds on personal needs.
In another incident, A.A. established a close relationship with citizen A.K. and obtained a copy of her apartment key. While A.K. was traveling, he allegedly illegally entered the apartment and stole a large quantity of gold jewelry.
On June 18, 2026, A.A. was charged with fraud, theft, and other articles of the Criminal Code, and a pre-trial detention measure was applied. The Prosecutor General's Office urged citizens who have suffered from his actions or have additional information to contact the hotline at 1161, guaranteeing confidentiality.
