A first-of-its-kind 'sports' bus stop has been inaugurated in the Sergeli district of Tashkent. This transport hub serves 12 bus routes, and now passengers can not only wait for the bus but also spend their time beneficially for their health.

The waiting area has been supplemented with a workout zone featuring elements for short physical activities, initiated by the Traffic Management Center. 'Now, while waiting for the bus, residents can warm up, do simple exercises, or pull-ups. This allows for the organic integration of physical activity into the daily urban rhythm—on the way to work, school, or home,' the statement said.

Similar solutions have already been implemented in several foreign cities. In Seoul, Beijing, Singapore, Paris, Bogotá, and Cali, bus shelters were equipped with sports elements, including horizontal bars, steps, and other structures for active recreation. The main idea behind such projects is to make movement and physical activity a natural part of everyday life.

In the future, such facilities are planned to be installed selectively—primarily in densely populated areas, at stops with high passenger traffic and developed route networks, as well as where there is sufficient space for safe separation of waiting and physical activity zones.
