Information about the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Yakkabag district of the Kashkadarya region spread on social media. Initially, 12 suspects were reported, but Interior Ministry spokesman Shokhrukh Giyasov stated that there are four defendants.
The crime was brought to attention by the authors of the NeMolchi channel. Later, the children's ombudsman and the National Social Protection Agency commented on the incident.
According to reports, on June 7, 2026, four young men aged 20 to 23 put a 14-year-old girl into a Damas car, took her to a field, and raped her. The same day, the girl contacted law enforcement, and on June 8, an investigative group from the Yakkabag District Department of Internal Affairs inspected the scene, seized evidence, and ordered forensic, biological, and psychological examinations.
Initially, a criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 128 ("Sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years of age"), which carries a penalty of 3 to 5 years in prison. However, on June 29, the case was reclassified under paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 118 ("Rape of a person under 18 years of age"), which carries a penalty of 10 to 15 years in prison. All four suspects have been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
The victim is receiving psychological assistance at the Inson Social Services Center, and her family is receiving legal and socio-psychological support. The children's ombudsman is monitoring the investigation and ensuring the girl's rights are protected.
The ombudsman's office emphasized that in the interests of the child, broad media coverage of the case details is unacceptable, as it could harm her dignity and well-being. Earlier, in the Fergana region, several men raped a 14-year-old girl.
