In June 2026, Uzbekistan's consumer price index rose by 0.6%, according to the State Statistics Committee. This compares to a 0.2% deflation recorded in June of the previous year.
Annual inflation accelerated to 6.4% from 5.5% in May. In June 2025, the figure stood at 8.7%. Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices have increased by 3.3%, down from 4.2% in the same period last year.
Core inflation, excluding fruits and vegetables, was significantly higher: monthly at 1.5%, year-to-date at 4.2%, and annual at 6.9%.
The main driver of June inflation was the increase in electricity and gas tariffs. Electricity prices rose by 9.6%, gas by 10.7%, contributing 0.22 and 0.16 percentage points to monthly inflation, respectively.
Coal prices surged 2.1 times, adding 0.48 percentage points to monthly inflation. This followed the removal of coal from the list of socially significant strategic goods.
Food products fell by 1.4% month-on-month but rose 6.3% year-on-year. Non-food products increased by 2.3% monthly and 5.9% annually. Services became more expensive by 1.8% and 7.1%, respectively.
Meat prices saw significant increases: mutton rose 16% month-on-month and 23.1% year-on-year; boneless beef increased by 1% and 20.6%, respectively. Eggs rose 0.8% monthly and 16.2% annually.
Seasonal factors led to lower fruit and vegetable prices: potatoes fell 14.7%, tomatoes 18.6%, cucumbers 34.2%, cabbage 14.2%, apples 4.7%, and grapes 7.9%. However, carrots rose 6.5% and onions 3.6%.
Gasoline prices increased by 3.9% month-on-month and 16.7% year-on-year. Propane rose 11.3% monthly and 41.1% annually. Methane increased by 8.8% and 10.1%, respectively.
Taxi services became 1.3% more expensive monthly and 6.2% annually. Railway transport fares fell by 0.3%, and airfares dropped by 0.6%.
Regionally, the highest monthly inflation was recorded in Khorezm region (1%), the lowest in Syrdarya region (0.3%). In Tashkent city, prices rose by 0.4%.
On an annual basis, the highest price growth was observed in Samarkand (6.8%), Kashkadarya (6.7%), and Andijan (6.6%) regions. The lowest was in Surkhandarya region (5.7%).
Since January, the consumer price index has been based on 517 items, including 419 goods and 98 services. Observations cover over 2 million price quotations. Data collection occurs from the 1st to the 25th of each month.
The State Statistics Committee also publishes inflation using Yang's geometric formula: in June, this figure was 0.2%, and 2.5% since the beginning of the year.
