Residents of the Mirabad district in Tashkent have recorded a video appeal against the construction of a new facility on the site of the only children's playground in their courtyard. According to them, the area where children have played for decades has been fenced off for a project unrelated to social infrastructure.

The courtyard in question has a history of nearly 80 years, once part of a former military settlement, and has always served as a common recreation and play area. Locals claim that a plot of approximately 40 by 55 meters, previously used by children and maintained as a green zone, is now almost entirely enclosed by a fence.

"Children always played here; there was a football field open to everyone. Now everything is blocked off, and there is no other playground nearby. Kids have to look for places to play in other courtyards," residents said.

The construction fence reportedly covers a vast area, blocking 80-90% of the territory that has long been used as public space.

Lawyer Victoria Shmarkovskaya, who joined the appeal, emphasized that the future facility is not part of social infrastructure and will bring no benefit to local residents.

Locals insist the courtyard must remain a public space and not turn into another closed construction site. They expect authorities to assess the situation and verify the legality of placing the facility on public land.

Earlier, the Supreme Court canceled the construction of a green zone in the "Yunus Rajabiy" mahalla of Yakkasaray district, Tashkent. The court's decision was met with applause.
