Serious violations have been uncovered in the installation of electricity meters in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan. As a result of an internal audit, a criminal case has been opened against 12 employees of the regional branch of the energy company.

According to the branch of Regional Electric Networks, the violations were detected during an internal audit conducted by the internal audit and compliance control services.

The investigation revealed that employees violated legislation when installing electricity meters for consumers. Additionally, a shortage of meters was discovered.

The materials have been handed over to law enforcement agencies. The suspected employees have been placed in custody as a preventive measure. The company is taking steps to compensate for the damages.

The audit also covered the Samarkand region, where it was found that electricity meters were illegally installed for consumers at the company's expense. This information has also been forwarded to law enforcement, and efforts are underway to recover the losses.

Inspections are ongoing in other cities and districts of the Samarkand region. Specialists are examining whether the installation of meters complies with legal requirements and how allocated funds are being spent.

Previously, employees of Regional Electric Networks and Khududgazta'minot joint-stock companies in the Samarkand region were detained on corruption charges.
