A National Guard serviceman died while attempting to rescue a woman who fell into the Bozsuv canal near the Memory Alley in Tashkent, according to the “Millar” program.

Social media circulated a video claiming that the National Guard officer who saved the woman drowned himself, and his body had been searched for seven days.

Asror Masurov, head of the press service of the Tashkent City Department of the National Guard, said that servicemen noticed a woman being swept away by the current.

“In response to the incident, a National Guard serviceman immediately jumped into the water to save the citizen’s life. However, due to the strong current, it was impossible to rescue her, and she drowned,” he said.

According to the program, the woman’s body was found by rescuers the same day and handed over to relatives.

A National Guard representative stated that the serviceman himself was caught in a strong current and whirlpool, resulting in his death. His body was found during search and rescue operations involving rescue services and partner organizations.

The “Millar” program reported that the deceased serviceman was born in 2005, and his wedding was expected to take place soon.

Earlier, in Chirchiq, Tashkent region, EMERCOM rescuers saved a citizen being swept away by a canal current.
