Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. In the second quarter of 2026, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection uncovered widespread cases of drug price overcharging. Consumers have been refunded a total of 1.9 billion soums for overpriced purchases.

The violations involved exceeding the established maximum trade markups on medicines. Such cases are recorded by tax authorities and submitted to the Fair Tech information system, which monitors compliance.

Specialists reviewed the incoming signals and took action. Violations were found in 237 pharmacies, including 33 wholesale and 204 retail outlets. A total of over 148,000 instances of abuse were detected.

The total amount of unjustified revenue amounted to 1.9 billion soums. These funds have been recalculated in favor of consumers, and measures have been taken to restore their rights.

Work in this area continues. Pharmacies that violated the rules will face penalties, and their list will be published publicly.

Earlier, the Antimonopoly Committee identified violations in the pricing of paid medical services in healthcare facilities in Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions.
