A 44-year-old man in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region, who slaughtered donkeys in his yard and sold the meat at markets, has been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison after prosecutors appealed an earlier lenient ruling.
According to Kun.uz, on October 22, 2025, police seized 61 kg of unfit meat, 112 donkey hides, and 15 ribs from his home. The Kasbi district court initially gave him 2 years of restricted freedom.
On December 28, 2025, another raid found 247 kg of meat, bones, and 99 hides. The Karshi district court again imposed a restricted freedom sentence on May 13, 2026.
Following an investigation by Kun.uz, the deputy prosecutor of the region appealed, arguing the punishment was too lenient. On June 15, 2026, the appellate court overturned the verdict and sentenced him to 4 years in prison under Article 186, Part 2, Clause 'v' of the Criminal Code.
Combined with the previous sentence, the total term is 4.5 years in a strict-regime colony. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom.
