The number of drivers violating traffic rules in Uzbekistan is on the rise. According to the Traffic Safety Service, 671 drivers have accumulated more than 12 penalty points. They will face legal liability measures as prescribed by law.
Under current regulations, exceeding 12 points may result in the driver being deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for at least six months. This measure is aimed at improving road safety.
During the reporting period, traffic safety officers issued 399,269 administrative warnings. The most common violations include not wearing seat belts, using phones or watching videos while driving, speeding, violating stopping and parking rules, and crossing the street at undesignated locations.
As of May 19, the number of drivers with more than 12 penalty points stood at 107. This figure has increased significantly since then.
It is worth noting that since July 1, 2025, penalty points have been calculated based on protocols drawn up by traffic patrol officers, and since April 1, also based on images recorded by automatic cameras. This has enhanced the efficiency of detecting violations.
In February, Uzbekistan introduced administrative warnings for certain traffic offenses. These can be applied once a year for violations such as not wearing a seat belt, using a phone, lacking technical inspection or insurance, violating stopping and parking rules, and crossing the street at undesignated locations.
