Uzbekistan's National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change has issued urgent recommendations for citizens and state organizations as an anomalous heatwave is forecast to hit the country from July 13 to 17.

According to Uzhydromet, extremely hot air from the south will push daytime temperatures to +41…+43°C across most of the country, while northern, southern and desert regions could see thermometers soar to +44…+46°C — well above seasonal norms.

The committee called for protective measures for green spaces and wildlife. “The anomalous heat poses a serious threat not only to people but also to green areas, trees, shrubs and fauna. Drying of trees, damage to vegetation and water shortages could negatively impact ecological stability,” the statement said, urging strict adherence to precautions.

Citizens are advised to avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours (12:00–17:00), stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take extra care of children and the elderly. State organizations and enterprises are recommended to adjust working hours and provide additional rest breaks for employees.

The committee also emphasized the need for efficient water use, intensified irrigation schedules for trees and shrubs, and measures to protect animals from overheating.
