Revenues to Uzbekistan's mahalla (neighborhood) budgets are expected to reach 1.6 trillion soums this year, and from next year, 2 trillion soums.

Initially, it was planned that 600 billion soums would remain in mahalla budgets in 2026. However, after presidential decrees in June, the share of land and property taxes retained locally was increased from 10% to 15%.

Additionally, 10% of fines for violating sanitary norms and illegal construction will be directed to mahalla budgets. Mahallas have also been allowed to independently sell vacant buildings up to 5,000 square meters. This is expected to bring them an additional 405 billion soums.

Another source of income will be land and property taxes paid by owners of non-residential properties. Five percent of these revenues will remain at the disposal of mahallas, providing them with another 400 billion soums annually.

At the end of the year, 200 mahallas that register the most entrepreneurs, create the most jobs, show the highest revenues, and find additional sources of tax income will each receive 2 billion soums.
