Uzbekistan and Turkey intend to expand the list of goods subject to a preferential trade regime, which is expected to boost bilateral trade turnover to $5 billion.

The relevant agreements are enshrined in a protocol signed following a meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Working Group on the Preferential Trade Agreement, according to a statement from the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade.

The meeting was held as part of an official visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation led by Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu. The Uzbek side was represented at the talks by Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev.

“The parties considered expanding, on a parity basis, the list of goods subject to a preferential trade regime and reached a mutual understanding following the third round of negotiations,” the ministry's statement said.

Following the meeting, an agreed protocol was signed, cementing agreements on the inclusion of additional product positions taking into account the mutual interests of the parties.

The ministry noted that the decisions reached will also help intensify bilateral trade and increase the volume of export-import supplies.
