A criminal case against a former senior lieutenant, 33-year-old S.M., who worked in the criminal investigation unit of the Yakkasaray District Internal Affairs Department, has been heard in the Yakkasaray District Criminal Court.

According to case materials, S.M. demanded money from a local businessman allegedly involved in drug-related operations. The defendant threatened to search the businessman's home for drugs, arrest him, and inspect his enterprise. In exchange for not taking these measures, he demanded $1,000.

The businessman paid 6 million soums as an advance. Subsequently, the former officer repeatedly threatened him, demanding the remaining amount.

The businessman reported the incident to the State Security Service, and during an operational operation, S.M. was caught red-handed while receiving the remaining $400.

S.M. was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Bribery). He was sentenced to three years of restricted freedom, with deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the functions of an official and to work in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for three years.
