The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan will reopen its doors after a two-year reconstruction. The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for July 24 at 10:00 AM, according to the museum's press service.

As part of the "Open Doors Days," entry to the museum will be free for citizens of Uzbekistan from July 24 to July 26. This provides an opportunity for visitors to be the first to see the updated exhibition.

The museum was closed to visitors on June 4, 2024, for reconstruction of the exhibition and repair of the building facade. Over the course of two years, the museum has been modernized to meet contemporary standards.

The Museum of History of Uzbekistan is one of the oldest museums in Central Asia. It was founded in 1876 and is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. The museum's collection includes over 350,000 exhibits — archaeological finds, numismatic collections, manuscripts, and ethnographic materials covering the region's history from ancient times to the present day.

The museum was granted state status on August 5, 1994. In April, the State Museum of History of the Temurids also reopened after reconstruction, coinciding with the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur's birth.
