As of July 1, Uzbekistan has 234 enterprises with foreign capital operating in the healthcare and social services sector, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Turkey leads with 36 clinics, followed by Russia with 34 enterprises. China and India share third place, each with 25 companies.
South Korea has 18 enterprises, Kazakhstan 16, and Azerbaijan 9. The US is involved in 8 companies, the UAE in 6, and Kyrgyzstan and Japan each have 4 enterprises.
Another 49 companies operate with investors from other countries. Earlier, Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine Gregg Semenza was invited to join the International Scientific Council under the Agency for the Development of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan.
