The head of the Landscaping Department of Yakkasaroy district in Tashkent has been held administratively liable for failing to provide adequate working conditions for employees during abnormal heat and violating labor protection requirements, the State Labor Inspectorate reported.

An investigation prompted by a video circulating on social media revealed that workers engaged in landscaping were not provided with safe and comfortable working conditions as required by law. Specifically, employees were performing street cleaning duties outdoors during extreme temperatures.

Consequently, the department head was charged under Part 1 of Article 49 of the Code of Administrative Liability, which imposes a fine of 5 to 10 times the base calculation value (2.06 million to 4.12 million soums) for violations of labor and labor protection legislation by an official.

The video, posted on July 17, showed landscaping workers cleaning streets in Tashkent during a heatwave. Following the incident, the State Labor Inspectorate issued instructions to all municipal authorities to protect the life and health of landscaping workers during abnormal heat conditions.

The inspectorate also demanded that all state bodies and organizations refrain from holding meetings and public works in hot weather. Earlier, on July 15, employers were advised to review working conditions for outdoor workers and reduce or temporarily halt such work during the hottest hours of the day.
