In the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan received $9.28 billion through international money transfer systems, a 13% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Central Bank's review of the domestic foreign exchange market.
Outflows from Uzbekistan amounted to $1.33 billion, up 8.1% year-on-year. The positive balance of remittances thus approached $8 billion. The Central Bank noted that this net inflow serves as an additional source of foreign currency supply on the domestic market.
Individuals sold $12.3 billion to commercial banks, nearly 1.4 times more than in the previous year. At the same time, they purchased $6.8 billion in foreign currency. The net currency supply from the population reached $5.5 billion, increasing almost 1.5 times over the year.
The Central Bank attributed the relative stability of the exchange rate in the first half of the year to the growth in remittances, export revenues, and currency supply from legal entities.
In 2025, remittances to Uzbekistan surged by 27.2% to $18.9 billion. Transfers from Uzbek migrants working in developed and Asian countries rose by nearly 22% to $3.49 billion.
In the first quarter, remittance inflows grew by 13% to $3.8 billion. Russia's share declined from 77.6% to 72.4%, while shares from Kazakhstan, South Korea, and European countries increased.
