Uzbekistan is considering a new incentive system for citizens and companies involved in creating green spaces. A corresponding draft resolution has been submitted for public discussion.

The document was developed on the initiative of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change and aims to expand the participation of citizens and businesses in the 'Yashil Makon' project. Its goal is to attract more people and businesses to create and maintain gardens, parks, as well as botanical and dendrological areas.

According to the draft, both individuals and legal entities can obtain the 'Eco-Partner' status. To do so, they must create a green garden or public park with at least 1,000 trees and shrubs planted, and contribute at least 200 million soums to the 'Yashil' charitable fund.

The status will be awarded based on an annual competition. One winner among citizens will be selected in each region — a total of 14 people — and 10 best organizations will be determined nationwide. Results will be announced in spring: in April, the results will be compiled, in May they will be reviewed, and from June 1 to 10, winners will receive certificates and commemorative gifts.

Status holders will also be recommended for the 'Defender of Nature' badge. The participant with the highest score may be nominated for the honorary title 'Honored Ecologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan'.

However, 'Eco-Partners' face restrictions: any construction work is prohibited on the created green territories.

Incentives include a 10% discount on government services, as well as preferences for obtaining consumer loans from banks with a state share of more than 50%.

Additionally, Uzbekistan plans to increase the country's green space coverage to 30% by 2030. This target is part of systematic efforts to combat climate change and desertification, which seriously affect the development of Central Asian countries.
