Uzbekistan's government has announced plans to increase the number of artificial intelligence (AI) projects in the economy and social sector to over 100 this year. The initiative was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a review of the country's AI ecosystem development.

AI-based solutions will be implemented in healthcare, energy, transport, customs, and other areas. Priority sectors also include legal services, public safety, ecology, and geology, aiming to enhance efficiency through digital transformation.

To support these projects, authorities intend to strengthen cooperation with IT Park residents, startups, and over 20 AI laboratories. By the end of the year, the number of AI-focused residents is expected to reach 300.

The volume of services provided by these residents is projected to reach 2 trillion soums, with exports totaling $160 million. This forms part of a broader program to establish a comprehensive AI ecosystem in Uzbekistan, including infrastructure, workforce training, and technology adoption.

Earlier reports indicated that Uzbekistan plans to allocate an additional $70 million to expand computing capacities needed for AI development. The funds will be used to modernize existing clusters and build new infrastructure.
