In Surkhandarya, over eight thousand young people practice kurash, a national wrestling sport. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized at a meeting in the region the need to develop infrastructure for this sport, which is part of cultural identity.

A modern training center will be built this year in Denov at the "Zamondosh" camp base to facilitate full-scale training, camps, competitions, and preparation of kurash athletes for international tournaments.

Special attention was given to young wrestlers in Baysun: starting from the new academic year, students at a local boarding school will be able to combine studies with kurash training. Previously, it was reported that schools under construction in regions will also begin professional training in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling alongside kurash.
