Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. The traditional three-day Melon Festival in Khorezm attracted over a million guests from around the world, with the main highlight being a historic achievement in the number of melon varieties tasted.

The event was officially included in the Guinness World Records after participants sampled about 250 varieties of melon. This accomplishment has drawn significant attention both domestically and internationally.

For three days, Khiva was immersed in a festive atmosphere blending national culture, crafts, modern innovations, and agricultural traditions. Themed pavilions decorated with agricultural products and artisan goods lined the tourist alley from the railway station to Ichan-Kala.

The festival brought together not only farmers. Scientists from Urgench State University presented over 50 varieties, including new export-oriented developments. Researchers are also working on technologies to process melon pulp, seeds, peel, and stems, producing food items, sweets, oils, aromatic substances, pharmaceuticals, and fish feed.

For the festival, staff of the Ichan-Kala Museum-Reserve prepared the book "Khorezm Melons." Published in Uzbek, Russian, and English, it describes hundreds of varieties and includes QR codes for virtual tours of melon fields.

The festival concluded with a gala concert featuring Uzbek and international artists. However, the festival's main outcome is the achievement now officially part of history: Khiva set a world record for the number of melon varieties presented for tasting.

Earlier, the mass performance of the famous "Andijan Polka" was also officially included in the Guinness World Records.
