Customs officers at Tashkent International Airport have thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs into the country, according to official reports.
The anti-smuggling department 'Tashkent-Aero' and border customs post officers intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok who had passed through the 'green' corridor.
A search of their luggage revealed synthetic drug mephedrone, weighing a total of 6.8 kg, cleverly concealed in wine bottles and plastic containers.
A criminal case has been initiated by customs authorities in connection with the incident. Further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the smuggling operation and any accomplices.
