Authorities in Tashkent have launched a criminal investigation into a 37-year-old woman identified as A.T., who is accused of systematically subjecting her 3-year-old child, A.I., to physical violence, according to the press service of the Children's Ombudsman.

The case came to light after a group of neighbors filed a complaint with the Ombudsman's office, alleging that the woman regularly beat her child, administered sleeping pills, and left the toddler without proper care or supervision.

Following an official inquiry by the Ombudsman, the incident was reviewed by internal affairs bodies and the National Social Protection Agency. As a result, criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 110 of the Criminal Code (Torture) for the repeated abuse and torment inflicted on the child.

A protective order was issued for the child, who has since received all necessary medical treatment to restore his health. Officials report that the child's condition is now stable.

The district guardianship authority has appointed a temporary guardian for the child, acting in the child's best interests. Documents are being prepared for court to strip A.T. of her parental rights due to her failure to fulfill parental duties.

The Children's Ombudsman has stated that the case remains under close monitoring to ensure the child's safety and well-being.

In 2025, the Children's Ombudsman received a total of 1,934 appeals. Among them, 19 criminal and 26 administrative cases were opened regarding violence against children. Additionally, 2 warnings, 6 submissions, 25 conclusions, and 3 requests to protest court decisions were issued.

The Social Protection Agency has launched a hotline at short number 1246, allowing anonymous reporting of violence and cruel treatment of children.
