The governor of Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region, Murotjon Azimov, has signed a decision to allocate over 3.78 billion soums (approximately $300,000) to cover tuition fees for students from low-income families enrolled in local universities.

The funds, totaling 3 billion 780 million 600 thousand soums, will support 856 students who face financial barriers to higher education. This initiative is particularly crucial for families struggling to afford the cost of tuition, ensuring that students can continue their studies without interruption.

Special attention is being paid to young women, as the financial support aims to enable them to pursue higher education, develop professional skills, and build more confident careers. The regional administration emphasizes that this is not merely social assistance but an investment in human capital and the region's future.

The initiative comes ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, highlighting the government's commitment to education. It is part of broader efforts to expand access to higher education across the country.

Earlier, Uzbekistan announced that children of medical and pharmaceutical workers with at least 15 years of service in state institutions would receive partial compensation for their university tuition costs, further demonstrating the state's focus on supporting education.
