Uzbekistan is planning to purchase Jet A-1 aviation fuel from China on a long-term basis, according to a statement from Uzbekneftegaz JSC. The move is aimed at diversifying sources of aviation kerosene supply and enhancing the resilience of its provision.

The announcement followed a meeting between Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdugani Sanginov and a delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jian. The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, joint investment projects, and new promising areas in the oil and gas sector.

One of the key topics was long-term supplies of Jet A-1 aviation fuel to Uzbekistan from China. Earlier, the President of Uzbekistan was briefed on the country's demand for aviation kerosene. According to the document, in the second half of the year, demand is projected to reach 375,000 tons — 27% higher than in the same period last year. The growth is attributed to an increase in flights through Central Asia.

The bulk of the required volume is planned to be covered by domestic refineries. In addition, Uzbekistan has already established imports of aviation kerosene from alternative sources, including Georgia, Iraq, and other countries.

In this context, the parties also discussed enhancing the Chinese embassy's assistance in establishing direct cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and China National Aviation Fuel Group (CNAF) and Sinopec.

Currently, Uzbekneftegaz already cooperates with a number of major Chinese companies, including CNPC, CCDC, BGP, Jereh, and Honghua. Joint projects cover geological exploration, well construction, service operations, and the introduction of modern technologies.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, implement new investment and technological projects, and elevate strategic partnership in the energy sector to a new level.
