Finally, after scorching heat, most of Uzbekistan will start the week with slightly more comfortable summer weather. The influx of cooler air masses from the northwest and the strengthening of anticyclonic processes will lead to a noticeable drop in temperature, especially during the night.
Therefore, many regions will experience cool nights of +17…+20 degrees Celsius. During the day, the heat will not recede yet: in most of the republic, temperatures will remain around +35…+38 degrees, while in the south, working days may see readings of +40 degrees and above.
Only by the weekend will the cool air reach the south, where temperatures will drop slightly. Most importantly, while daytime heat persists, the return of night coolness will provide relief to the body and create more comfortable conditions for sleep and nighttime rest.
According to foreign weather bureau data, during the working days of the week, temperatures in most of Uzbekistan are likely to be 1-3 degrees above the climatic norm.
According to Uzgidromet's forecasts for the week, on Monday, short-term rains are expected in most of Karakalpakstan, with unstable weather in some districts of Khorezm by evening. On Tuesday, short-term rains are possible only in Karakalpakstan. No precipitation is expected across the republic during the working days.
By the weekend, temperatures are expected to drop across the republic, with cloudiness and precipitation in the Fergana Valley, some areas of Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya regions, as well as in the mountains.
The weekly temperature distribution will vary across the republic. In northern regions, a significant temperature drop will be felt at the beginning of the week, while in other regions, summer coolness will begin to be felt from mid-week. On weekends, daytime temperatures in most of the republic will be around +31…+36 degrees.
At the beginning of the week, temperatures will rise to +36 degrees in the north, +38 in other regions, +41 in the south, and +32 in the mountains. Night and morning temperatures this week will significantly decrease compared to last week. Residents of the north will feel +17 degrees at night as early as the beginning of the week. This coolness will spread to other regions from mid-week. In the mountains, temperatures will drop to +13 degrees at night during the week.
At the beginning of the week, strong winds and dust storms are expected in the north, desert, and southern regions.
According to Uzgidromet and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), this week the average temperature in most of the republic will be around normal and 1-3 degrees above in some regions, with precipitation amounts exceeding normal in the valleys and north.
Thus, the working days of the week will be slightly hot across the republic, with a significant cooling by the weekend. This is a relief compared to last week, but not yet real coolness.
This week, Uzbeks will experience heat waves close to +38…+40 degrees during certain daytime periods. However, this environment is not like last week's, which was disturbing and caused severe heat stress, altering sleep patterns. The impact of last week's heat was felt not only in meteorological indicators but also in the subjective feelings of the population.
In a survey conducted on the Telegram channel Uzb_Meteo, with nearly 1,300 participants from various regions, 42% reported that their sleep duration significantly decreased due to the heat.
This is not a medical study, but it is an important public indicator of how heat stress is felt in daily life. The decrease in night temperatures creates more favorable conditions for the body to recover after the daytime heat load.
During the week, changes in air masses and wind patterns may lead to changes in atmospheric pressure. This could exacerbate headaches, weakness, or a general feeling of discomfort in some weather-sensitive individuals.
Bioclimatic conditions. This week, most of the republic will experience a different situation than last week. Especially comfortable bioclimatic conditions are expected during night and morning hours in most of the republic. Even in the high mountains, lightly dressed people may feel cold for most of the day.
In the context of climate change, high temperatures are increasingly accompanied by higher humidity, which can make the heat feel more oppressive. Last week, temperatures of +38…+40 degrees in some regions occurred against a background of relatively high humidity. This made the heat load feel stronger than the numerical value of the air temperature.
Cosmic influences. According to available solar activity forecasts, the probability of a strong geomagnetic storm this week is assessed as low. However, the reliability of such forecasts decreases after a few days, so it is advisable to monitor short-term updates.
Uzgidromet warns that at the beginning of the week and towards the weekend, strong winds in Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions, as well as Karakalpakstan, will intensify the lifting of dust from dry soil, and during periods of weakening winds and atmospheric stabilization, the accumulation of fine particles in the air may increase.
If air pollution increases or pollution with fine particles occurs, it would be useful to familiarize oneself with the recommendations prepared by the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee for various age groups and patients.
Thus, on August 17-23, Uzbekistan may experience unstable weather at the beginning of the week in the north, and mainly in valley areas by the weekend. However, this is not yet real coolness — daytime summer heat will persist.
