President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced on August 18 during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs in Khorezm that Uzbekistan will allocate $50 million for the construction and modernization of hotels. The funds will be used to build new facilities, renovate existing hotels, and purchase necessary equipment.
These measures are driven by a significant increase in tourist flow. Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan has welcomed 8 million foreign tourists, with the average length of stay rising to eight days. This growth necessitates expanding the hotel infrastructure and improving service quality.
Entrepreneurs involved in hotel construction and modernization will receive loans in national currency for up to 10 years at an annual rate of 16%. Additionally, subsidies for building three-, four-, and five-star hotels will be extended for another two years. Certification of hotel category will no longer require a conclusion from a foreign company.
The property and land tax benefits for hotels will be extended until 2030, allowing them to pay these taxes at a rate ten times lower than the standard. For hotels with a capacity of over 50 places, banks will install ATMs that accept cash in foreign currency.
Services provided by tour operators to foreign tourists will be treated as exports and exempted from VAT. Customs benefits for importing tourist buses, electric buses, and minibuses will also be extended for one year, and the utilization fee will be waived.
Earlier, it was reported that entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan can start construction immediately after purchasing a plot at auction, without spending 6 to 12 months collecting permits. Land plots will be put up for auction with a ready package — architectural planning assignment, project, and construction permit.
