President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that the development of new industries and the creation of jobs within the country should reduce the need for Uzbeks to go abroad for work. He made this announcement while outlining new directions for regional economic growth.
According to him, to further improve the living standards of the population, it is necessary to maintain high rates of economic growth. In 2026, Uzbekistan aims to increase its gross domestic product to over $180 billion and exports to $40 billion.
To achieve these targets, conditions will be created for entrepreneurs to expand production, create high-income jobs, increase added value, and enter foreign markets.
The President outlined the specialization of regions, which should become the basis for new growth points. In Tashkent, the focus will be on export-oriented business; in Andijan, Fergana, and Namangan regions — on textile industry and mechanical engineering with a full production cycle.
In Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khorezm regions, priority areas are tourism, creative industry, and agro-industrial brands. In Navoi and Tashkent regions, it is planned to develop mining, metallurgy, and scientific chemistry, creating long value-added chains.
In Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, similar chains will be formed in the agro-industrial complex and oil and gas chemistry. In Karakalpakstan, the drivers of the economy should be green energy, information technology, and artificial intelligence.
In Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions, competitive clusters will be developed in the automotive industry, electrical engineering, and production of building materials. "Then our people will not need to go abroad for work, and entrepreneurs of New Uzbekistan will enter a new stage of development," the President said.
He also noted that a new generation of entrepreneurs has emerged in the country, ready to expand their businesses and implement new solutions. In conclusion, Mirziyoyev emphasized that the state will continue to support entrepreneurs and create conditions for the implementation of their initiatives.
