From September 4 to 6, Samarkand will host the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians. Nearly 300 participants representing 183 countries, 15 international organizations, and about 50 permanent observers are expected to attend.
The conference is jointly organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Its main theme will be restoring human rights, justice, and human dignity in a challenging period.
Participants will discuss modern global challenges, human rights protection, ensuring peace and stability, as well as the role of youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event will also feature the 3rd Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. The platform is expected to allow young parliamentarians to exchange experiences, put forward concrete initiatives, and establish practical cooperation.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan and the US agreed to expand inter-parliamentary contacts, including cooperation between committees of the legislative bodies of the two countries.
